2 Loaded Guns Seized, 2 Men Arrested In Sonoma County: Police

Police said they searched the two men after they found them smoking cannabis and drinking alcohol in a parking lot.

SANTA ROSA, CA — Two men from Ukiah were arrested Friday evening in Santa Rosa after officers found them in possession of loaded, concealed guns, police said.

At around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team were patrolling the parking lot of the Quality Inn, located at 3000 Santa Rosa Avenue.

The officers observed two men, later identified as 23-year-old Brian Pankey and 19-year-old James Webber, smoking cannabis and drinking alcohol. Officers said they searched the men and found the loaded guns.

Police said they located a loaded, concealed .45 caliber 1911 handgun on Pankey’s person and a loaded, concealed .40 caliber “Poly-80” handgun on Webber’s person.

Both men were arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on felony charges of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and carrying a concealed weapon, police said.
