25-Year-Old Shot In Late Night Drinking Incident At Santa Rosa Park: Police

BREAKING: Man arrested on gun charges at nearby traffic stop. $2,500 reward offered in shooting.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A man is in serious, but stable condition after being shot near Santa Rosa's Finley Park Saturday night, police said.

At 11:37 p.m., police responded to reports of gunshots at 2060 West College Ave., where they found a 25-year-old man suffering from several gunshot wounds. Detectives from the Gang Crimes Team said the victim and approximately 20 other men and women were gathered in the park drinking alcohol when the shooting took place.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was listing in serious but stable condition, according to police.

A responding officer conducted a traffic stop on a car with three male subjects leaving the parking lot of the Finely Center and spotted a loaded gun at the feet of the front-seat passenger.

The officer arrested the man, identified as Eric Jovany Morales, 19 of Santa Rosa, police said.

Morales was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm in public and possession of a concealed firearm by an active gang participant.

Additionally, several people at the scene were detained and questioned, according to police.

The Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Team believes this was a targeted, gang-related incident, police said.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance & Take Back Our Community Program for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects involved in the shooting.
