6 Arrested, 46 Cited In Santa Rosa DUI Checkpoint

The checkpoint was held from 8 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday.

SANTA ROSA, CA — The Santa Rosa Police Department made six arrests and cited 46 drivers during a DUI/driver's license checkpoint Saturday night.

A total of 771 vehicles were contacted during the checkpoint held from 8 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday at Stony Point Road and Stony Circle.

Of those contacted, three drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI, 42 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed, and four drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended/revoked license, Santa Rosa police said.

Additionally, one driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing an open container of alcohol, and two drivers were arrested on outstanding warrants, police said.



"DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes," the Santa Rosa Police Department said. "The focus of conducting DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads."

Funding for Saturday's checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
