Alexander String Quartet performs in Mill Valley Oct. 12
Mill Valley Chamber Music Society begins 2014 to 2015 season with Oct. 12 concert featuring the renowned Alexander String Quartet

Mill Valley Chamber Music Society, a non-profit, all volunteer organization, launches its 2013-2014 season Sunday, Oct. 12 with the renowned Alexander String Quartet - featuring Zakarias Grafilo, violin1; Frederick Lifsitz, violin2 ; Paul Yarbrough, viola; and Sandy Wilson, cello.
A world premiere ensemble, ASQ has paid homage to the classics (recording the complete string quartets of Beethoven, among others) and performed more than 25 commissioned works by contemporary composers.
Based in San Francisco, ASQ has performed internationally for over 30 years in the major musical capitals of five continents and at major halls in North America and Europe.

The Alexander String Quartet was established in New York City in 1981 and a year later became the first string quartet to win the Concert Artists Guild Competition, then captured international attention as the first American quartet to win the London International String Quartet Competition in 1985.
This concert is supported with a grant from San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music.
