Alleged Pot Dealer Suspected Counterfeit Money, Told CHP He Wanted His Drugs Back or Real Money

CHP told him he was under arrest. So was the alleged buyer.

Two men were arrested early Tuesday morning during a marijuana deal that involved counterfeit money, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The CHP responded around 12 a.m. to a minor collision between a Chevrolet and a Ford on the Golf Course Drive on-ramp to southbound U.S. Highway 101 outside Rohnert Park city limits, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

CHP officers determined the driver of the Ford, Craig Kirk, 20, of Rohnert Park, sold Jacoby Williams, 31, of Georgia, an occupant of the Chevrolet, two pounds of marijuana for $4,500, Sloat said. Kirk then became suspicious about the money and tried to stop the Chevrolet as it left the parking lot of the Graton Resort and Casino, Sloat said.

Kirk’s Ford collided with the Chevrolet when Kirk tried to stop it on the Golf Course on-ramp, Sloat said.

Kirk then left the scene but returned when the CHP responded to the collision, hoping the officers would help him get his money or marijuana back, Sloat said.

CHP officers smelled additional marijuana in Kirk’s Ford and arrested him on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale, Sloat said.

Jacoby was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and passing counterfeit $100 bills, Sloat said.

The driver and two other passengers in the Chevrolet were detained and released after questioning, Sloat said.
