Is America doing enough for Global Poverty?

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. While many Americans will be celebrating what they are thankful for, there are others all across the world who would be thankful just to have clean water and a meal.

It is a misconception that the United States does “just enough” for world poverty. However, compared to other statistics, there is much more our nation can do.

How much aid does the U.S. give to the world’s poor?

$30 billion goes to programs that assist the world’s needy.

How does that compare to other foreign policy priorities?

$663 billion goes toward military spending.

I think most Americans would be outraged to learn that… Especially considering the military has been vocal in calling in Congress to fight global poverty.

So remember, there are others in the world less fortunate than you reading this. If you wish to take action, call or email Congress and let them know that we need to make a change. It only takes 25 seconds, in which during that time lives can be impacted.
