The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office issued an alert at 10:55 a.m. to avoid the area of the Smart Train Station at 3748 Regional Parkway in Santa Rosa.
Sonoma County CAL FIRE reported a possible shooter in the northern area of Santa Rosa.
Using a drone and the Henry-1 helicopter, deputies searched the area for the suspect and verified he was not carrying a weapon. Police took him into custody without incident.
A search found the 17-year-old suspect, a Sonoma County resident on active probation from another Bay Area county, carrying an "airsoft Glock-style replica handgun" concealed in his waistband, according to police. Authorities did not release his name because he is a minor.
Investigators booked the juvenile into Sonoma County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of illegal discharge of a small arms device and disrupting train operations.
The sheriff’s office credited assisting agencies including the California Highway Patrol, Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit, and Sonoma County Fire District for helping bring the situation under control.
The Santa Rosa SMART station reopened at 11:20 a.m.
