Armed Robber Sought In Rohnert Park Apartment Complex Incidents

Police say a woman was robbed of her purse, while in the other incident a man refused to give over his belongings.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — A suspect is sought in two armed robberies reported this week to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

The first incident happened at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday, April 22 at a housing complex in the 1000 block of Golf Course Drive, a Rohnert Park DPS sergeant said in news release. A female resident of the complex said she'd just arrived home and parked her car in the parking lot when she noticed a man in a red sedan — possibly a newer Nissan Maxima — parked in the stall next to hers. She told police the man drove out of the stall but returned and parked behind her.

"The male got out of the red sedan and walked up to her, then pointed a handgun at her and demanded her purse in Spanish," said Rohnert Park DPS Sgt. Jeff Justice. "The victim gave the suspect her purse and then he fled in the vehicle."

The woman described the robber as a younger Hispanic man who was wearing a green V-neck T-shirt and jeans.

Then, at about 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, a man reported that he'd just parked his car in the parking lot of Oak View apartments at Rohnert Park Expressway and Snyder Lane when a man walked up to his driver's side window, pointed a handgun at him and, speaking in Spanish, demanded his belongings.

"The victim locked his doors and refused to turn over his property, then the suspect ran off and got into what the victim described as a red or burgundy newer Honda Accord parked a few stalls down," Justice said. "The suspect pulled out of the parking stall and hit both of the vehicles parked next to him, and then fled the complex."

The victim described the suspect as a slim Hispanic man in his mid- 20s or early 30s who was wearing dark clothing and a black beanie.

Based on damages to the parked vehicles, Rohnert Park DPS says the robber's car should have a damaged fender/bumper on the front passenger side and damage to the side panel at the rear of the driver's side.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or vehicle as described is asked to call the Rohnert Park Investigations Bureau at 707-584-2630. Tips can also be emailed to rpdpsinvestigations@rpcity.org or crimetips@rpcity.org.
