Bank Robber On Bicycle Sought By Santa Rosa Police

A reward of up to $2,500 is offered for information that leads to an arrest in the bank robbery.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Rosa Police Department is seeking the public's help to identify a bank robber who fled the scene on a bicycle.

The robbery was reported at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday at a bank in the 2700 block of Yulupa Avenue.

"Several officers were immediately dispatched to the location," Santa Rosa police Sgt. Christopher Mahurin said. "With the assistance of Henry-1 Sonoma County Sheriff’s helicopter, officers searched the area for the suspect who fled."

Officers spoke with bank employees and learned that the man entered the bank and used a threatening note to demand money from the teller, then left the bank after receiving a small amount of money.

Witnesses saw the suspect take off on a bicycle and head westbound across Yulupa Avenue and into the Ace Hardware/Safeway Shopping Center parking lot. He rode behind the stores and across the pedestrian bridge that leads to Cactus Avenue.

The robber was described as a white man with a medium build who was between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 5 inches tall. He wore a dark baseball cap, black sunglasses, a navy blue long-sleeve shirt, gray sweatpants, and a black gaiter-style face covering.

The crime scene was processed and the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Violent Crimes Team took over the investigation.

"Detectives are looking for any witnesses or surveillance footage to help identify the suspect," Mahurin said.

Police asked anyone who lives in the Mesquite Park area — Cactus Avenue, Sage Street, Canterbury Drive, etc. — to please check their home surveillance cameras for possible footage of the suspect.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund for information leading to the arrest of the suspect responsible for this bank robbery.
