Car Fire Investigated As Arson: Police

A man riding a mountain bike was seen throwing something at a car, causing the vehicle to catch fire, according to police.

SANTA ROSA, CA — A car fire in West Santa Rosa is being investigated as arson, police said. The fire was reported around 1 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, in the 300 block of Fenwick Drive. According to police, a man on a bicycle was seen throwing something at a car parked in a driveway; the car then caught fire.

City of Santa Rosa firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze, which caused severe damage to the car, SRPD Sgt. Hector De Leon said.

"Based on surveillance video, the suspect appeared to be wearing a hooded sweatshirt or jacket, light-colored pants, athletic shoes and a backpack," De Leon said. "He was seen riding a mountain bicycle."
