Golf Course Drive Reopens After Car, SMART Train Collide In Rohnert Park
A local roadway was closed as police responded, and all trains were delayed.
ROHNERT PARK, CA — A car collided with a SMART train Friday in Rohnert Park, causing delays on the tracks and on local roadways.
The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. Friday on Golf Course Drive when a driver failed to stop at the SMART train tracks, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said.
Police closed Golf Course Drive at the SMART tracks and asked the public to avoid the area as officers responded to the crash.

The driver was alone in the car and was not injured, according to police.
There was major damage to the car, and the roadway was shut down in both directions while the car and debris were removed.

At 4:53 p.m., all trains were delayed because of the incident, SMART said on Twitter.
At 5:15 p.m., police announced the roadway was clear and reopened to traffic.
"After being evaluated by medics, the driver was released from the scene," police said. "Although today’s incident had a fortunate outcome, please remember to drive carefully around the train crossings."
