Child Porn Tip Leads Police To Sonoma County
Rohnert Park police arrested a resident after a cybertip led detectives to child sexual abuse material.
ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — Rohnert Park detectives arrested a man suspected of having child sexual abuse porn after a months-long investigation that began with a cybertip, police said.
Uriel Leobardo Ruiz Altamirano, of Rohnert Park, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of violating the California law that makes it a crime to knowingly possess or control child pornography or obscene material depicting minors — Penal Code § 311.11(a)(1), according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.
The investigation began in February after the department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children through the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, police said in a news release.

Detectives identified Ruiz Altamirano through follow-up investigation and served multiple search warrants tied to electronic accounts connected to the case, according to the department.
On Wednesday, Rohnert Park officers served a residential search warrant, and an arrest warrant that allows law enforcement to seek a judge’s approval for an arrest before prosecutors have filed formal charges. Police may request one, called a Ramsey warrant, when they believe they have probable cause that a person committed a crime.
