Civilian Public Safety Academy In Rohnert Park: Sign Up!

Get a behind-the-scenes look at your city's law enforcement! Applications are being accepted for the next session which begins in March.

ROHNERT PARK CAThe Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety is accepting applications for its upcoming Civilian Public Safety Academy that begins on Mondays in March.

The civilian academy gives community members an inside look at local law enforcement and fire protection, with sessions on the department’s theory and philosophy, law, use of force, officer safety, investigations, traffic, narcotics, hazardous materials, emergency medical services, fire prevention and fire suppression as well as a force options simulator, according to officials.

All attendees also will receive CPR / AED training.

Classes are taught by sworn and civilian public safety personnel of the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, and participants will meet the Director of Public Safety as well as department members, organizers said.

Eligible participants must live or work within the City of Rohnert Park and be at least 18 years old. Applications will be reviewed for eligibility after which qualified candidates will be placed on a class roster on a first-come, first-served basis. Remaining candidates will be placed on a waiting list for the next available class, according to the department.

The upcoming sessions are 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Monday from March 19 to May 21 at the main Public Safety building, and the class size is limited to 25 people.
