Comedy, Broadway Soprano and More This Weekend

On Friday, get a dose of comic relief with funnyman Wyatt Cenac. Best known as a deadpan correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Wyatt Cenac has had a successful career as a comedian, actor, and writer. 

Cenac spent three seasons writing for FOX's animated show "King of the Hill” and starred in the film "Medicine of Melancholy" which was nominated for three Independent Spirit Awards in 2008. $10 students/$20 general. SSU’s Green Music Center. Cotati

If movies are more your thing, check out Remorques, a French masterpiece starring Jean Gabin at SSU’s Warren Auditorium. 7pm.

Then on Saturday, head to Redwood Café in Cotati to hear Revolver, a trio inspired by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks and Buffalo Springfield.

With a full and versatile sound including great lead singing, three-part harmonies, and a musical blend of guitars, keyboards, bass, drums and percussion, Revolver won’t disappoint. 9pm. $10. All ages show. 8240 Old Redwood Highway, Cotati.

If you’re in the mood for classical, check out soprano Barbara Cook at a post- Valentine’s Day concert at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University at 8pm.

Cook has been nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the musical Sondheim on Sondheim and called "the greatest singer in the world" by the Financial Times.
