Commercial Burglary In Sonoma County: Recognize Truck Or Suspect?

Don't let the home-improvement store "shopper's" blond wig and beanie fool you. Petaluma police said those are disguise tries.

PETALUMA, CA — Police are asking the public for help identifying a man suspected of cutting a hole through siding and swiping tools Thursday morning from Friedman's Home Improvement store in Petaluma, before taking off in a tan, Ford pickup truck.

Chainsaws and a generator were among items taken in the burglary reported at 7 a.m. from the business at 429 N. McDowell Blvd., the Petaluma Police Department said.

The suspect was described as possibly an Hispanic or Asian male, wearing a blond wig and beanie and approximately 150 pounds and 5-feet, 7-inches tall, the agency said.

The vehicle involved in the crime was a tan, early-2000s' model, extended-cab Ford Ranger 4x4 with a dealer plate of 14704D1, police said, adding that the dealer tag possibly was used to conceal the real license plate.

"The truck has a distinct yellow and black plastic toolbox in the bed, and a firefighter sticker in the lower left corner of the back glass," police said.
