Cornell West Coming to SSU
Philosopher, Author and Activist, West is a frequent commentator on democracy, social justice and the growing divide between rich and poor in the United States

Acclaimed philosopher and author Cornel West will give a talk at Sonoma State University Thursday, April 11.
West is most known for his classics, Race Matters and Democracy Matters, and for his memoir, Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud. He also co-hosts the popular radio show “Smiley & West” heard on PRI and has written 20 books.

In 2011, he made waves in a New York Times opinion piece in which he argued that the best way to honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy is to have a transformation of society—where the government fights injustices and defends the working class—instead of a symbolic memorial on the Mall.
West is a frequent commentator on culture, democracy, race relations and the growing divide between the rich and poor. He currently teaches philosophy and Christian practice at Princeton. $20 for general public/Free for SSU students. At Green Music Center.
