Cotati Grass Fire Contained At 11 Acres

The blaze was possibly started by a lawnmower that hit a rock.

Firefighters are mopping up after a grassfire west of Cotati this afternoon, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said.

The fire in the Bloomfield and Burnside roads area in the Hessel area spread to 11 acres before it was fully contained, the spokeswoman said late this afternoon.

The smoke was spreading northeast into the Santa Rosa area, a Sonoma County Fire dispatcher said. The California Highway Patrol said the fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. by someone who said their mower hit a rock and started the fire.
