Cotati Now a Hub for Sonoma County Art Trails Open Studios

You no longer have to leave Cotati to see the fine artists and artisans of Sonoma County Art Trails Open Studios!

Cotati, CA -- September 12, 2016 – You no longer have to leave Cotati to see the fine artists and artisans of Sonoma County Art Trails Open Studios! Stones Throw in Cotati will be hosting a mini-preview exhibit for Art Trails Open Studios from September 15-October 30. The show will feature the work of 13 Art Trails artists including four of the six artists from the Cotati/Rohnert Park/Penngrove area. There will be an artist reception and open house on Friday, September 30 from 6pm-8pm at the store’s new location of 8278 Old Redwood Highway, Cotati.

Art Trails Open Studios has been taking place throughout Sonoma County for many years, but this area has always been underrepresented. While it may be awhile before there are as many artists as there are in other parts of Sonoma County, the numbers are gradually growing. This year there will be six artists from Cotati, Rohnert Park, and Penngrove. Three of them have their work at Stones Throw year round including pastel artist Tim Brody and ceramic artists Rhonda Lee and Barbara Tocher. They will be joined in the preview exhibit by another ceramic artist, David Henderson. Other year round Art Trails artists include Rick Butler who works with welded metal, Deborah Butterfield who creates Washi/Chiyogami mosaics & boxes, and Luann Udell who retells ancient stories in modern artifacts.

Stones Throw sells the work of over 50 local artists, and artisans, along with a large selection of crystals. Owner Jasmine Gold started Stones Throw two years ago as an offshoot of her other Cotati business, the Songbird Community Healing Center because “Our clients were asking for a place to shop for positive and inspiring gifts. I was excited when the opportunity arose to help support the local economy by selling work from local artists, artisans, and crystal vendors. The preview exhibit is a natural fit.”

Stones Throw will also be celebrating its two year anniversary at the September 30 open house and its recent move to 8278 Old Redwood Highway in Cotati from its previous location on Charles Street. Many of the store artists will be present along with the Art Trails artists.
