Crews Knock Out Fire Behind Penngrove Market

The blaze was reported Thursday evening.

Firefighters have extinguished a one-alarm fire this evening behind a market in Penngrove, a fire dispatcher said.

Fire crews responded to a report of a fire behind the Penngrove Market, located at 10070 Main St., at around 5:30 p.m., according to a Sonoma County Fire and Emergency Services Department dispatcher.

The dispatcher said firefighters arrived on scene and requested additional fire units while evacuating the businesses adjacent to the market. The fire was brought under control around 6:30 p.m., the dispatcher said.

No injuries were reported and no ambulances were called to the scene, she said. In addition to Sonoma County fire, crews from the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District, the Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department, the Wilmar Volunteer Fire Department, the Rincon Valley Fire District, the Gold Ridge Fire Protection District, the Rohnert Park Fire Division and Cal Fire responded to the scene.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol and deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office performed traffic control, the dispatcher said.
