Driver & Dog OK After Triple-Rollover Crash On Hwy 101

"Miraculously, we are both OK and unharmed," said the motorist, who was behind the wheel of the SUV Friday near Rohnert Park.

ROHNERT PARK, CA – A 20-year-old female motorist from Sebastopol, along with her dog, "miraculously" escaped unharmed after a triple rollover, solo-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 101 in the Rohnert Park area.

The woman's red SUV, a 1994 Ford Explorer, overturned at about 2 p.m. in 101's northbound lanes, north of the Rohnert Park Expressway, after she slammed on her brakes to avert a collision with vehicles in front of her, the driver said.

"To avoid hitting the cars suddenly stopping in front of me, I braked too hard and lost control, swerving into the cement center divide (while) going 55 mph," the woman said.

After hitting the divider, the woman said her vehicle "launched to the right, flipping a total of three times" and crossed four lanes.

In short, as the driver describes: "I was driving in the carpool lane, and by the time I got out, I had landed in the Rohnert Park Expressway on-ramp."

No other vehicles were involved, however, traffic did back up due to the accident.

The amazing news: The driver and her dog, a 5-year-old German Shepherd/mastiff mix that was in the front passenger seat, survived relatively unscathed. "Miraculously, we are both OK and unharmed," she wrote. "I have a lot of bruises and cuts and huge bump on my head, but overall we are OK!"

And she also thanked passers-by, noting: "There were lots of good people who saw the crash and stopped to help me that I am super grateful for. I can't believe we are OK!"
