Inspired by the fairy tale of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen this original lighthearted ballet created by Tamara Grose was designed to delight all ages. Set in present time The Mermaid and her two sisters live in a Sea Kingdom filled with delightful Sea Creatures ruled by their parents The Merking and The Merqueen. As the story unfolds The Mermaid falls hopelessly in love with a handsome prince. The prince is betrothed to another and the two marry in a colorful and whimsical ceremony. But alas, all is not lost for The Mermaid receives help from her surprise ally The Sea Witch allowing her to visit The Daughter's of the Air where after gaining merit she can eventually reunite with her family. The musical arrangement for CCD's performance ranges from Dvorak to Harry Nilsson accommodating multiple dance forms. There is even a singing shark!
