Fire At Santa Rosa Apartment Complex Displaces 40

Breaking: Video shows several fire crews on scene.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A fire has caused the evacuation of six units at a one-story apartment complex in the South Park section of Santa Rosa Thursday afternoon, displacing some 40 residents, the Santa Rosa Fire Department said.

The fire at 945 Aston Ave. was reported around 2:40 p.m., according to the fire department.

Twelve units are without power and investigators from the police and fire departments are at the scene.

The fire spread through a common attic, and six engines and a ladder truck responded, according to the fire department.

Red Cross is on scene offering assistance to the displaced residents, fire officials said.

As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Santa Rosa police said Aston Avenue is closed between S. Hendley Street and Petaluma Hill Road and will remain so for several hours. Residents will be let through, according to police.
