Free Cookbook Giveaway, Community Share Table At Sonoma County Farmers Market

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Between baskets of peaches and flower bouquets, shoppers at the Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market will soon discover something unexpected.

Beginning next month, the market is adding a Community Share Table, a monthly swap-and-giveaway where shoppers can pass along useful household items—from cookbooks and kitchen tools to gardening supplies—and take home something new to them, all free of charge while helping reduce waste.

The table will be open on the last Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. beside the Information Booth at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts.

The first event, a Cookbook Grab, is Saturday.

Visitors can browse a collection of free cookbooks and take home any that catch their interest.

Organizers said the inaugural event is a giveaway only and asked people not to bring cookbook donations because the market already has a large supply.

Future Community Share Table events will feature rotating themes, including puzzles, specialty books, and winter clothing.

During exchange-themed events, participants may bring one or two clean, gently used items that match the monthly theme, browse items shared by others, or simply take something home. Organizers said donations are welcome during exchange months but are not required to participate.

The Community Share Table will be available on the last Saturday of each month during the Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market, 50 Mark West Springs Road, giving shoppers a chance to discover useful items while connecting with neighbors through a simple community tradition.
