G parks elevated playground structure not fixed
They say it was inspected but it wasn't nothing has been changed below is a list of the violations still in place
This is a list of the Still present code and Public Playground Safety Requirements not fixed.
Loaded with UBC Code Violations, and Public Playgrounds Safety Guidelines.
1. No Drainage
2. Contaminated Soil Under Bark
3. Soil is not suitable for Compaction
4. No re-bar At all
5. Some of the Concrete was Quick Crete Fence Post
Cement, placed in the non compacted holes, on top of 8” x 8” x 1 1/2” decretive garden Stepping Stones (With No Concrete Below the stepping stone)
6. Only 6’ Landing Zones ant the end of the Two 8’ Tall Slides. (A 8’ Landing Zone Is Required By Law)
7. Their Climbing Structures Have other playground parts right at the base of them. If the Fall from the Top while Transiting to the other side. They will fall on the Stepping Steps at the base, not land on the Loose Fill Fall Protection Materials (redwood bark)
8. There are many places that are 5’ to 8’ Open Excess to a Neck breaking Fall Height. 36” is the Max Height without a handrail.
9. The Surrounding Areas are Covered in Rat infested Ground Cover.
10. They have Open Top Trash Containers all around the park for the Rats to Eat from.
11. The Size Restrictions are 5 years old to 12 years old. (They placed 2” x 5” Stickers on some of the). But Parents are not only letting their Toddlers play on the Elevated Playground Structure, they are helping them get up on it.
12. They never did a site lighting review for the playground (since it’s open 24/7 with no site control)
13. It’s right next to the Stormwater Drainage Systems Outlet which has Hazards in the water and the dirt that the kids play in all summer long. (Hydrocarbons, lead, and other Hazardous materials wash down from the streets.
14. The whole project was done without any Building Inspection being done, plus the (required by law)
15. The Final Inspection by A State Playgrounds Inspector was never done before it was put into service.
16. After a couple days of rain, the playground filled with 8” Of water because there isn’t any drainage on the site. They waited 3 weeks for the water to drain, but it never did drain all the way, it also didn’t evaporate in the 3 weeks, so they covered up the remaining water with the Redwood Bark to hide the fact that there isn’t any drainage at all.
This can also be deadly if left in fixed.
The Whole City Council, Building Dept., Code Enforcement Dept., Mayor, Vice Mayor, and The Playground Manufacture, knew of the code and safety violations as they were being committed and did nothing to stop the work and get it done right.
