Graton Resort And Casino Receives First Slot Machine

The Graton Resort & Casino received the first delivery of slot machines on Friday morning.

Tim McLaughlin, executive director of the Graton Gaming Commission, and Joe Hasson, general manager of the Graton Resort & Casino, handled the special honor of presenting the first slot machine to be unloaded into the 320,000-square-foot casino.

Altogether, the casino will feature 3,000 slot machines.

According to casino representatives, the installation will take roughly eight weeks to complete, which includes time for loading in, installation and testing.

The $800 million casino will feature an abundance of state-of-the-art slot machines, much like the one delivered Friday.

Several of the machines will cost around $20,000 per machine.

Virtually all of the slot machines inside of the casino will be electronic-based with the possibility of a few mechanical machines that still have electronic elements to them.  

“We still refer to slot machines with terminology like coin-in, but coin often times is a thing of the past at a casino in this day and age,” said Hasson. “The games accept currency and then you play based on credits.”

Hasson additionally mentioned that guests of the casino would have the option of using a “player card” that will reward certain guests with such things as complimentary meals.

“We’ll always take care of the guests that make themselves well known to us by the use of our loyalty cards but at the end of the day the games take currency,” said Hasson.

The Graton Resort & Casino will be the Bay Area’s largest gaming and entertainment destination and it’s scheduled to open in late 2013, subject to receiving all required regulatory approvals.

Owned by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, the facility will feature an arrangement of popular table games, slot machines, video poker and live poker including private high limit gaming rooms.
