Here's How Hot It May Get In Rohnert Park, Cotati This Week

Heat is expected to return to the Bay Area this week, with Thursday forecast to be the warmest.

ROHNERT PARK AND COTATI, CA — Heat is expected to return to Rohnert Park, Cotati and the Bay Area during the latter half of this week as high pressure builds over the region.

The hottest afternoon is likely to be on Thursday when temperatures warm to 15-25 degrees above normal and inland locations likely exceed 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, forecasters expect coastal areas to reach into the 80s with the possibility of a few locations approaching 90.

In Rohnert Park, the high temp Thursday is forecast to reach 87 and in Cotati, it is forecast to reach 86.

The short duration of this heat event and adequate overnight cooling will likely limit overall heat risks for the general population, the National Weather Service said. However, those sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration will be at risk of heat-related illnesses.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 71. Light and variable wind becoming west southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 44. South southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 84. Light west northwest wind becoming west southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 87. South wind 3 to 8 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 50.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 46.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 76.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43.

Beach Hazards Statement

Heat isn't the only concern: high winds could bring rip currents and sneaker waves 8-12 feet high along the coast. The National Weather Service issued a Beach Hazards statement to coastal cities in San Francisco; the Coastal North Bay, including Point Reyes National Seashore, the Peninsula coast, northern Monterey Bay, southern Monterey Bay, and the Big Sur Coast. The advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. Tuesday until 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Anyone at the beach is advised to stay far away from the surf, and never turn their back on the ocean.
