High Temp Sets Record In Santa Rosa

The high temperature Tuesday in Santa Rosa broke a 94-year-old record.

SANTA ROSA, CA — It was a record-hot day in Santa Rosa.

The high temperature Tuesday in Santa Rosa was 89 degrees, shattering the previous record set nearly 100 years ago on March 22, 1926, when the high temp was 86 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Elsewhere in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, seven other cities also saw record-breaking high temps, the NWS said.

  • San Francisco was 82 degrees, breaking the previous record of 73 degrees on March 22, 2008.
  • Redwood City was 85 degrees, breaking the record of 78 degrees on March 22, 1944.
  • Downtown Oakland was 85 degrees, breaking the record high of 77 on March 22, 1984
  • San Jose was 84 degrees, breaking the record high of 83 on March 22, 1915
  • Gilroy was 85 degrees, breaking the record high of 83 on March 22, 2015
  • Salinas was 85 degrees, breaking the record high of 78 on March 22, 1931
  • King City's 86-degree day broke the previous record of 84 degrees of March 22, 1977

In the North Bay, the high temperature Tuesday at Sonoma County Airport was 88 degrees, while the high temp was 86 in Napa, 87 at the Napa County Airport and 84 in Kentfield.

Highs in the 70s and 80s are expected again Wednesday in the North Bay interior valleys but Thursday should be a tad cooler with highs forecast in the mid-60s to upper 70s, according to the weather service.

The next chance for rain in the North Bay is Sunday, according to the current forecast.
