Homeless Man Accused Of Breaking Into 3 Cars In Rohnert Park

A 49-year-old man is accused of smashing car windows with a hammer, then taking items out of the cars, according to police.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — An unsheltered Sonoma County man is accused of burglarizing three cars early Sunday in Rohnert Park by smashing the windows, police said.

The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety was alerted at 4 a.m. Sunday that a man was breaking into cars in the 5800 block of Commerce Boulevard.

Officers set up a perimeter and the suspect, 49-year-old Paul Good, ran from the scene directly into officers and was covered in glass, police said in a news release.

"Once contacted, Good dropped stolen property as well as a hammer he had been carrying," police said. "The reporting party was able to provide video surveillance of the crime and positively identified Good as the suspect. During the investigation a total of three vehicles had their windows smashed and were physically gone through."

Good was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
