Inmate on Home Release Cuts Off Ankle Bracelet

SANTA ROSA, CA — A Sonoma County jail inmate who was sentenced to home confinement custody cut off the electronic ankle bracelet that tracks his movements and is unaccounted for, a sheriff's sergeant said today.
Michael Christopher Jones, 50, of Santa Rosa, removed the ankle bracelet near the intersection of Marlow Road and Crosspoint Avenue in Santa Rosa around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Spencer Crum said.
Jones was in home confinement custody for petty theft, driving on a suspended license and violating a court order, Crum said.

Jones is not considered a threat to the community, but anyone who sees him has been asked to call the sheriff's dispatch center at (707) 565-2121 or 911.
