Investigators Search For Answers After Fatal Crash In Rural Sonoma County

Investigators continue examining what caused a pickup truck to leave the roadway Thursday morning near Santa Rosa.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A driver died after his pickup truck veered off the roadway and plunged down an embankment Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded at approximately 10:05 a.m. to a reported solo-vehicle crash on Riebli Road, just south of Foothill Ranch Road, in the rural Mark West Springs area northeast of Santa Rosa.

The man was driving a Ford F-150 southbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the truck left the east side of the roadway and traveled approximately 10 to 15 feet down an embankment.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not released the cause of the crash or identified the driver.
