It's That Time Again: Rohnert Park And Cotati Students Head Back To School

ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — Students return Wednesday sending families across Rohnert Park and Cotati into a new school-year routine after two teacher workdays.

The youngest students get a more gradual start.

TK and kindergarten students have minimum days Thursday and Friday, Aug. 13-14, followed by additional TK minimum days Aug. 17-21.

Parents interested in district decisions can follow the Board of Education's next regular meeting on Aug. 18 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The district's Budget Advisory Council meets two days later, Aug. 20, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Back to school supplies

Families who still have school-supply shopping to finish have several options within Rohnert Park.

Target is at 475 Rohnert Park Expressway, Office Depot is at 321 Rohnert Park Expressway, and Walmart is at 4625 Redwood Drive.

Target currently advertises select school notebooks for 35 cents, composition books for 39 cents, folders and glue for 50 cents, and select Crayola products for 99 cents through Sept. 19.

Walmart is also running its 2026 back-to-school campaign on essentials.

Monday-Tuesday, Aug. 10-11: Teacher workdays.

Wednesday, Aug. 12: First day of school.

Thursday-Friday, Aug. 13-14: TK and kindergarten minimum days.

Monday-Friday, Aug. 17-21: TK minimum days.

Tuesday, Aug. 18: Regular Board of Education meeting, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 20: Budget Advisory Council, 4-5:30 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 7: Labor Day; schools closed.
