Kaiser Permanente Awards Over $280,000 to Support Sonoma County Nonprofit Organizations

Grants help increase access to health care, decrease overweight and obesity, and address oral health issues in the community.
Kaiser Permanente is donating more than $280,000 to nonprofit organizations to improve the health of the communities in Sonoma County. Eighteen Sonoma County nonprofits received Kaiser Permanente grant funding.
“These grantees are important partners in improving the health of our communities,” said Judy Coffey, Sr. VP and Area Manager, Marin-Sonoma. “In addition to funding, Kaiser Permanente also works side by side with our community partners to share medical research, clinical practices, and the expertise of our physicians and staff.”
Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa grants fund efforts to address some of the most crucial health issues in Sonoma County, including:
§ Improving access to health care coverage, health services and health education
§ Supporting Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) initiatives that help people to eat better and be more physically active as part of daily life
§ Preventing and treating oral health problems for low income families without dental insurance
The grants range from $5,000 to $20,000. 2013 grantees and their programs are:

§ Community Child Care Council Sonoma County, Healthy Kids Club
§ County of Sonoma Dept Health Services, Safe Routes to School Matching grant
§ Jewish Community Free Clinic, Operating Support
§ Northern California Center for Well Being, PlayWorks Recess Activity in Schools
§ PDI Surgery Center, Project Tooth Fairy Case Management
§ Redwood Coast US Lifesaving Association, Summer Swim Program
§ Redwood Community Health Coalition, Strengthening Outreach Enrollment Training
§ Redwood Empire Food Bank, Harvest Pantry at Link Lane
§ Sonoma County Adult and Youth Development, Rohnert Park/Cotati Healthy Family Outreach
§ St. Joseph Dental Clinic, Mighty Mouth
