Lost Dog Reunited By CHP With Grateful Owner
A wandering dog on the freeway is home safely after busy roadway rescue.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A dog wandering through traffic made it home safely after a California Highway Patrol officer and a good Samaritan worked together to rescue the animal and quickly reunite it with its owner.
CHP Officer Major responded over the weekend to reports of a dog running loose along Petaluma Hill Road, a busy roadway connecting Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa.
With assistance from a passerby, Major caught the dog, who was then taken to VCA Animal Care in Rohnert Park for a microchip scan.

The scan identified the dog's owner, allowing the officer to make a short trip to return the pet home.
