A passenger took off running when the vehicle stopped at a dead-end street and was not caught, Santa Rosa police said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A Santa Rosa man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly leading police on a chase in a stolen SUV.

Just before 8 p.m., two officers at Ditty Avenue and Coffey Lane tried to pull over a Honda CR-V reported stolen out of unincorporated Sonoma County.

Police said the 40-year-old driver, Kenneth George Torres, sped off on Coffey and led police down several side streets, even after the officers activated their emergency lights and sirens.

The CR-V struck another vehicle in a parking lot off of Coffey, causing minor damage to the car but no injuries to its occupants.

Police said Torres then drove south on Coffey and hit several wooden posts in an apartment complex on Range Avenue before heading north on Coffey and stopping at a dead end near another apartment complex on Plata Court.
