ROHNERT PARK, CA – A 30-year-old Cotati man was shot and killed Wednesday night in what police investigators believe may be a gang-related shooting.

The man, who was identified Thursday as Alan Albors, was found face down in the westbound lane of Rohnert Park Expressway after being shot in the chest, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said.

Police arrived on the scene on Rohnert Park Expressway near State Farm Drive shortly after 9 p.m. after responding to reports of shots fired and began investigating the crime scene in the parking lot of the Redwood Credit Union.

After reviewing surveillance video from the credit union, police determined Albors was sitting in his truck when a dark-colored sedan pulled into the parking lot and parked a short distance away. A male suspect then got out of the driver's side of the sedan and walked to Albor's truck and then returned to his vehicle.

Albors and someone else then got out of the truck and approached the suspect, who got back in his car following an argument, police said. On the surveillance video and from witness accounts, Albors was seen walking up to the driver's side window of the sedan when a shot was fired, and Albors walked away and collapsed in the roadway. Officers attempted to revive Albors at the scene but were unsuccessful.

In a news release Thursday afternoon, police said the incident was not a random shooting and is believed to be gang-related.

The suspect, who remains at large on Thursday and is considered armed and dangerous, returned to the sedan and then left the parking lot toward Padre Parkway. Public safety officials said the suspect vehicle is a 2009 or 2010 dark-colored Acura TSX with the possible license plate number of 7EAF822. The front driver's side window is broken and the driver's side reverse light is out.
