Man Shot Outside Restaurant After Argument, Santa Rosa Police Say

It was one of three shootings this week in the city.

SANTA ROSA, CA — A man was shot outside a Santa Rosa restaurant Wednesday night and a reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting — or two other shootings this week — police said Thursday.

This shooting was reported shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Marlow Center in the 1700 block of Marlow Road. The victim was not there when officers arrived because, according to witnesses, a good Samaritan took him to a local hospital, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Christopher Mahurin said.

"Based on the initial investigation, detectives don’t believe this was a random shooting," Mahurin said. "The motive for this shooting is still being investigated."

The victim, a 24-year-old Santa Rosa man, got into an argument with an unknown person inside a local restaurant. The argument continued outside where the victim was shot, more than once, while standing in the parking lot.

The shots came from inside a car and the shooter left before officers got there.

Officers canvassed the area but did not find the shooter.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body and was listed in stable condition Thursday morning.

"At this time, SRPD detectives are continuing to investigate this shooting and looking for anyone who witnessed the incident," Mahurin said.

3 Shootings This Week

Two other shootings happened this week.

The first one was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Dutton Avenue when a suspect on a bicycle and wearing a mask and dark clothing shot at a man who was sitting in a car. The victim was not injured.

The second shooting happened at 10:30 p.m. Monday at Dutton Avenue and Guerneville Road when a driver was shot several times by someone in another car. One bullet grazed the victim's arm, Mahurin said, but as of Thursday, police had no information to share about a possible suspect.

"SRPD detectives are continuing to investigate each of these shootings and looking for anyone who witnessed the incidents or may have home surveillance footage," Mahurin said.

Police asked anyone with information in any of the three shootings to contact SRPD through its online Tip Line: Srcity.org/CrimeTips.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in each of these shootings.
