Man With Suspended License Violations Nabbed For Sonoma Co. Hit-and-Run

The suspect tried hiding in an Outback Steakhouse parking lot, CHP said.

California Highway Patrol officers arrested a Vallejo man on suspicion of hit-and-run in unincorporated Sonoma County near Rohnert Park Tuesday night.

Caiphus Bailey, 25, drove a Lexus through a stop sign at Labath and Millbrae avenues around 9:50 p.m., CHP Officer Jon Sloat said. A westbound vehicle driven by a Santa Rosa resident collided broadside with the Lexus and Bailey fled, Sloat said.

CHP Officer Kimberly Lemons contacted Bailey about 200 feet from the collision and Bailey ran toward the nearby Walmart Plaza, Sloat said. Another CHP officer found Bailey in a parking lot near the Outback Steakhouse, Sloat said.

Bailey was on probation in Solano County for negligent operation of a vehicle and has four prior convictions for driving with a suspended license, Sloat said.

He was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and violation of probation, Sloat said.
