More Trees For Rohnert Park At Town's First 'Arbor Day' Planting Party
A Rohnert Park community tree-planting event marks the town's first Arbor Day.

ROHNERT PARK-COTATI, CA — Trashing trees is a hard line to take. But a group of tree-loving pranksters once planted themselves in an L.A. parking lot with signs that read "STOP PLANTING TREES!" and "SAVE OUR CONCRETE!"
With less irony but a more practical approach, Mayor Emily Sanborn is trying to change the proportion of trees to asphalt and proclaimed March 7 as Arbor Day in Rohnert Park, marking the occasion with a community tree-planting event aimed at expanding the city’s arboreal cover.
The proclamation, presented to the city’s certified arborist, Brandon Keck, highlights the environmental benefits of trees, including improving air quality, cooling neighborhoods, reducing erosion, and supporting wildlife habitat.
