Motorcyclist Collides With Flatbed Trailer At Valley Ford, Roblar Roads

BREAKING: The 72-year-old on motorcycle was flown to hospital for injuries.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A Santa Rosa man suffered major injuries this morning when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in west Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 72-year-old man was flown by medical helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

The motorcyclist was driving the 2003 Harley-Davidson east on Valley Ford Road around 11 a.m. when the pickup hauling a flatbed trailer slowed in front of him west of Roblar Road, Sloat said.

The trailer being towed did not appear to have functioning taillights and the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision, Sloat said.

He was ejected from his motorcycle when it struck the rear of the trailer. The collision shut down Valley Ford Road while the helicopter was on the road, Sloat said.
