New Bike Path Work About To Start, And Creek Still Backed up!
As they are going to start the work on Monday, the G Sections Stormwater Drainage Creek is Still Backed up By Two Feet Of Contaminated soil!
They are going to start the G Section Bike Path Replacement Without removing the Two Feet of Backed Up (Contaminated Sediment) From 20+ years of Street Runoff Depositing Heavy metals, Lead, and Benzene from the upper G Section Stormwater Drainage System. The County came in 3 years ago and removed the blockage from the first 100’ after the Discharge, up to the Wooden Walk Bridge. The City has let their part of the clean up go un touched. Each winter it gets worse, and the water flows increase due to the loss of pipe capacity. So even though they had to put in a Second line to stop the Upper sections from flooding in the rain storms. It now has also lost half of its capacities. The Downstream Sediment causes the water to shoot out of the pipe at a faster flow. If the 2’ of backed up Sediment was removed, you would never see such high flows, right next to the Playground and Bike Path.
They all know it in the City because I have sent them emails with photos for the past two years. Still they do nothing. The Vegetation has grown up so much, there are trees with 6” diameter trunks. These catch the debris flowing Down stream, and impedes the flows. If you look at the other creeks like Five Creek or Copeland Creek, they are all nice and clean. You can even Walk along them. But the one that actually caused flooding, they have done nothing to fix the problems.
So the High and Fast flowing Stormwater flowing out of the line, you have the Dangers of the Fast flowing water, and no way to get out once in. And the banks by the Playground area are lined with Slick Adobe Dirt taken from the creek and placed there to smooth out the area when the county did their work. But it is slippery when wet. In some areas the Banks are Too Steep And cause additional dangers of Slipping into the flowing creek.
The water flows are a Danger all the way down the Bike Path in the G And H Sections. But the Flows slow down as the Culvert opens up on the other side of Snyder.

This is the only one that puts all these Dangers where your children play! WHY?
One thing that would help is a 4’ High chain link fence, surrounding the first section of ditch up to the bridge.
