Police Shoots Man During Struggle In North Bay Neighborhood
A police-involved shooting on a quiet block in Santa Rosa left a man critically injured today.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A routine call about a suspicious person quickly escalated into a police shooting this morning in Santa Rosa, leaving a man with life-threatening injuries and triggering an outside investigation by county authorities.
An officer with the Santa Rosa Police Department responded at about 11:16 a.m. to the 300 block of 10th Street after a report of an unwanted, or suspicious, individual.
The officer "made contact" with the man and a struggle followed, ending when the officer fired a weapon, the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a statement today.

The man who was shot — described by authorities as an adult, white man — was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said there is no threat to the public.
Following the shooting, the department activated the county’s employee-involved critical incident protocol, transferring the investigation to outside agencies.
