Petaluma Health Center Awarded Nearly $100K
Health and Human Services awarded Affordable Care Act funding to health centers across the nation. PHS lauded in four categories.

Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $36.3 million in Affordable Care Act funding to health centers across the nation in recognition of quality improvement achievements and ongoing quality improvement activities. HHS awarded accolades and funding in four categories.
Petaluma Health Center (PHC) is the only Community Health Center in California to receive awards in all four quality improvement categories listed below. Petaluma Health Center will receive a total of $99,779.

“We are honored to receive this recognition,” said Dr. Nurit Licht, PHC’s Chief Medical Officer. “Petaluma Health Center is committed to ensuring that all people in Southern Sonoma County have access to high quality, prevention-focused, patient-centered health care.”
HHS awarded accolades and funding in four categories:

- Health center quality leaders Award - Awarded to top 30 percent of all health centers that achieved the best overall clinical outcomes, demonstrating their ability to focus on quality in all aspects of their clinical operations
- National quality leaders Award – Awarded to Health Centers that exceeded national clinical benchmarks (Healthy People 2020 objectives and health center national averages) for chronic disease management, preventive care, and perinatal/prenatal care
- Clinical quality improvers Award – Awarded to health centers that demonstrated at least a 10 percent improvement in clinical quality measures between 2012 and 2013.
- Electronic Health Record reporters Award- Awarded to health centers if they used EHRs to report clinical quality measure data on all of their patients
