Petaluma Native Filming His New Movie In His Hometown
Ali Afshar brings his latest film, "THE WRONG SIDE OF RIGHT," to Petaluma.

Petaluma native Ali Afshar has brought the production of his latest film THE WRONG SIDE OF RIGHT back to his hometown where shooting is underway.
“I’m very happy to be able to bring my work back to my home town of Petaluma,” said Afshar, who is executive producer on the film, which stars James Remar (Django Unchained, “Dexter”), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future, “Caroline in the City”), Sherry Stringfield (“ER”, “Under the Dome”), Jayson Blair (“The New Normal”) and Allison Paige (“Days of Our Lives”)..
“I love this area and it has such great memories for me,“ he said. “I’m honored to be able to share it with others through this film.”
Afshar grew up on Old Adobe Road and attended Old Adobe Elementary School, Kenilworth Junior High School, and Casa Grande High School. His passion for entertainment was evident at a very early age, as his family could often find him racing motorcycles and horses at the age of five on their 200-acre ranch.

Afshar grew up competing in break-dancing and bicycle freestyle events all over Northern California.
Once he tasted freedom with his driver’s license at the age of 16, he won his first High School Challenge for drag racing at Sears Point International Raceway, representing Casa Grande High School. Through high school, Afshar could be found almost every week at the Sears Point Raceway competing in the Wednesday Night Drags, racing his classic 1967 Chevrolet Camaro.
Afshar turned his passion for racing into a profession, creating ESX Motorsports, which ultimately led him to race for Subaru of America, where he became a two-time NHRA National Champion – setting several world records for Subaru. He also began to pursue a career in acting, landing several television and film roles.
The beautiful Sonoma Mountains, which served as a backdrop for Afshar’s idyllic childhood in Petaluma, also serve as the backdrop for his new film, THE WRONG SIDE OF RIGHT.
Afshar thanks the following for their help in making the THE WRONG SIDE OF RIGHT possible in and around Petaluma: Councilman and Mayoral Candidate, Mike Harris; Sergeant James Pera and Family; Larry Peter; The Tresch Family; The Stratos Family; The Lauricella Family; The Cerini Family; and the City of Petaluma.
