Police Arrest Alleged Serial Car Thief in Cloverdale

Deputies linked the suspect, 23, to several thefts in the region.

Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office stumbled across a stolen vehicle while making an arrest on other charges in Cloverdale Monday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives went to a home in the 26600 block of Asti Road around 10 a.m. as part of their investigation in a vehicle theft and stolen property case, the sheriff’s office said.

There, the detectives arrested Alejandro Murillo, 23, of Cloverdale on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of stolen vehicle and possession of stolen property, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives found property in Murillo’s possession that had allegedly stolen from several Cloverdale businesses over the past few weeks, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives also determined that a vehicle parked in front of the home had been stolen from a home in Geyserville, according to the sheriff’s office.

An investigation showed that Murillo had been arrested in Ukiah on July 29 on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest and in Modesto on Aug. 4 on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Murillo was booked into the Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $50,000, the sheriff’s office said.
