Police Arrest Suspect in Rohnert Park Stabbing
A drug deal gone bad turned into a robbery and stabbing at a nice hotel.

A Santa Rosa man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of stabbing and robbing a man at a Rohnert Park hotel Sunday morning.
James Hamilton, 38, is suspected of stabbing a guest at the Doubletree Hotel around 3 a.m. and fleeing with items from the victim’s room. The victim, who was visiting from out of state, said Hamilton and another man came to the hotel room to sell marijuana to his friends who were staying with him and Hamilton tried to rob him at gunpoint, Rohnert Park police said.
During a struggle the victim was stabbed in the chest, and he was treated at a hospital and released, police said.

Hamilton and the other man fled the hotel, and the victim’s friend also fled before officers arrived, according to police.
Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park police located Hamilton at his residence on Barnett Street in Santa Rosa. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats, Rohnert Park police said.

Police said they recovered items that were taken from the victim’s hotel room in Hamilton’s residence in addition to a small marijuana growing operation.
Hamilton told police the stabbing victim and his friend tried to rob him at gunpoint but he wrestled the gun from the victim, police said.
Hamilton is scheduled to be arraigned in Sonoma County Superior Court Tuesday afternoon for assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, robbery and conspiracy. He is being held on $140,000 bail.
Police are still investigating the incident and the parties involved.
