SANTA ROSA, CA — A motorist who was pulled over for traffic violations turned out to be a convicted felon with drugs hidden in a shoe and a stolen, loaded gun in his home, Santa Rosa police said Saturday.

Gabriel Lindsey, 52, of Rohnert Park was stopped late Friday for driving with a modified exhaust and an unlawful license plate cover in the area of Mendocino Avenue and Carrillo Street, police said.

He was taken to the Sonoma County Jail where, prior to a search, he confessed there were narcotics in his shoe: 12 baggies of suspected cocaine, each about one gram, police said.

That triggered a search of Lindsey's residence in Rohnert Park, where the stolen 10mm Glock was located, along with a magazine loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, police said. About 2.5 ounces of suspected cocaine was also found.
