Police Further Investigate Rollover Crash That Killed Santa Rosa Pedestrian

The unidentified woman was trapped until Santa Rosa Fire personnel were able to lift the vehicle and she later died from her injuries.

Police this morning are continuing investigate a Tuesday crash in Santa Rosa that killed a pedestrian.

Police responded at 2:28 p.m. to the area of Third and B streets in reference to a crash. Police said a white Ford Explorer and a green Volvo crashed at the intersection, and the Explorer hit and rolled over onto a pedestrian who was standing on the sidewalk.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was trapped under the vehicle until Santa Rosa Fire personnel were able to lift the vehicle.

Police said the pedestrian died from injuries suffered in the crash. The driver of the Explorer was identified as Daniel Borbely, 72, of Santa Rosa. Police said Borbely was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Volvo was identified as David Nelson, 94, of Santa Rosa, and he was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Police said both men were cooperative with the crash investigation.

The crash closed the intersection until about 7 p.m.
