Police Investigating Rape Report At Santa Rosa Junior College

The woman told officials she was assaulted inside a women's restroom.

Santa Rosa police are investigating a reported rape on the Santa Rosa Junior College campus last week.

The female victim, a SRJC student, reported the incident to a medical facility five days after the alleged Aug. 20 assault, police Lt. Michael Lazzarini said. The woman was being treated at the facility for a medical issue unrelated to the alleged assault, Lazzarini said.

Santa Rosa Junior College issued a crime alert on Tuesday afternoon and Santa Rosa police starting investigating the alleged rape as part of its agreement with Santa Rosa Junior College police, Lazzarini said.

The woman said she was assaulted inside the women’s restroom at Barnett Hall on the SRJC campus around 9 p.m. on Aug. 20. She said the suspect forcefully pushed her against a wall and sexually assaulted her, according to the crime alert.

The woman said the suspect was a male, possibly white, who is about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a black beanie mask over his face, a black long-sleeved shirt and black pants, the woman said.

Lazzarini said classes on campus were in session at the time.
