"Upon further questioning, the student admitted making a false report," said SRJC District police Chief Robert Brownlee.
A mental health assessment was conducted and police determined the student "posed a risk of harm to others," Brownlee said.
Police placed the student on a 72-hour mental health hold and were not releasing her name because of the nature of the hold, Brownlee said.
District police are pursuing criminal charges against the student and she is being investigated for potential student conduct violations, the chief said.
The investigation was continuing; anyone with additional information about the case was asked to contact the SRJC District Police Department at 707-527-1000.
