Resident Burned, Dog Dies In House Fire: Santa Rosa FD
Firefighters controlled the blaze within 20 minutes and prevented it from spreading to nearby businesses.
SANTA ROSA, CA —A Santa Rosa resident suffered burns when his house caught fire Tuesday, fire officials said.
The resident was outside his home as firefighters responded at 5:51 p.m. to multiple reports of the fire in 1500 block of Sebastopol Road in the Roseland area, Battalion Chief Jason Jenkins said in a news release.
Smoke and fire were coming from the man's single-story home, and firefighters could see that the man had burns on his arms and upper body.

Firefighters rendered medical aid to the man while they waited for an ambulance crew to arrive.
Additional firefighters were requested in order to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby businesses.

"Firefighters searched the home and found no other victims, however, firefighters did find a small dog that was unresponsive," Jenkins said.
Efforts to save the dog were unsuccessful and it died.
Within 20 minutes, firefighters brought the fire under control.
Loss was estimated at $100,000, with fire damage to the back of the home and moderate smoke damage throughout.
Firefighters stayed on scene to monitor for any hot spots and assist with the fire investigation.
The cause was not immediately determined but Jenkins did say it was not suspicious.
